Here's a picture of where we are currently travelling. The line coming in from the left is our path from West Palm Beach, touching tiny Mangrove Cay before heading off to Great Sale Cay where we spent our first night. The next night was at unlabeled Crab Cay and we are now in Great Turtle Cay.
The Abacos are the eastern portion of the islands shown in this picture. Great Abaco Island is the major island. There are a number of much smaller island to the north and east of Great Abaco. Marsh Harbour is the center of the Abacos. The town is located just to the upper right of the name on the picture.
In the picture you can clearly see the deliniation between the deep ocean and the Little Bahama Bank. The Bank has an average depth of somewhere around two feet, although the areas we travel in are from 7 to 16 feet deep. They say that the entire body of water covering the bank is replaced every day by the tides. The water is crystal clear and you can see the bottom almost everywhere.
