Steen's Mountain

Rising to 10,000 feet in the middle of nowhere in south-eastern Oregon is Steen's Mountain. The gentle western slope takes you from 4,000 feet to the summit of this 50 nile long fault block mountain where you can look 5,000 feet straight down to the Alvord Desert. Five glacial valleys were carved into the mountain during the last ice age. A Spectacular place. We stopped at Crystal Crane Hot Springs for a night on the way and had a great view of a summer thunderstorm.
