Monteverde
After landing in San Jose we rented a car and drove to Monteverde. Not recommended. By the time we started up the mountain it was dark and by the time we got to the end of the pavement it was raining. The rest of the trip we slipped and slid around curves on the slick mud that was the road, avoiding huge boulders, steep drop offs and, at one point, a tour bus that was similarly slipping and sliding it's way up. Once we made it to town the next challenge was to find our way to our very nice hotel. Sitting just below the continental divide in heavy rain forest this is a beautiful town with much to see.Hopefully the road is now paved all the way up, but that will undoubtedly change the town a bit. We visited Selvature Adventure Park and the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. Hopefully the road is now paved all the way up, but that will undoubtedly change the town a bit.
