Summer Lake

Summer Lake is a shallow alkali lake in the central Oregon. Mostly dry in the summer it extends well over 20 miles north to south when filled by winter runoff from the mountains to it's west. It is a major migratory stop and hosts over 250 species of birds during the year. At the southern end is a hot springs resort that makes a great basecamp for exploring the area.
